The People's Bank of China (PBOC),the central bank, is to issue 44 commemorative coins in 2008.
These commemorative coins include 23 gold coins and 21 varieties of silver coins.
The coins will cover eight main themes, including the Beijing Olympics, the 20th anniversary of founding the Hainan special economic zone in south China, giant pandas and the traditional Chinese year of the ox starting from Jan. 26, 2009.
