Global wind power generation in 2007 grew by 27 percent to almost 94,000 megawatts. In China, wind power generation nearly doubled from 2,600 megawatts to about 6,000 megawatts. The secretariat of wind power industry organizations, which consists of nearly 390 enterprises, believes that the "momentum of growth in wind power is overly optimistic."

According to reports, Europe currently generates about 60% of global wind power - an increase of about 18% over last year.
