It is reported the trade between China's mainland and Taiwan increased sharply last year. The Chinese mainland remains Taiwan's largest trading partner, export market, and trade surplus source.
Taiwan's trade with the mainland totaled $102.3 billion in 2007, up 16.1 percent from the same period in 2006. Exports in 2007 amounted to $74.28 billion, an increase of 17.3 percent, and reached a new high in the last 3 years. Import volume reached $28.02 billion, climbing 13.1 percent, and dropped to a new low.
Taiwan's trade surplus with the mainland rose from $38.55 billion to $46.26 billion, an increase of 20 percent. By People's Daily Online
