The daily flight movement record at the Hong Kong International Airport has been broken twice in two days, with 906 and 945 flight movements handled Thursday and Friday respectively, said the Civil Aviation Department of Hong Kong Saturday.
The Civil Aviation Department of Hong Kong said Friday's flight movements exceeded the daily average of 810 movements by 16.7 percent. There were also 451 flights operated through the Hong Kong Flight Information Region Friday.
The department expects the steady growth in air traffic to strengthen Hong Kong's status as an international and regional aviation hub.
This Easter, most of the extra flights were destined for Northeast Asia, the Chinese mainland and Southeast Asia. Taipei was the most popular destination, followed by Fukushima and Okinawa. Source: Xinhua
