In 2007, the net income of Tibet's herdsmen grew to 2,788 yuan, an increase of 14.5 percent - 7 percent higher than the national average. Thus, the net income of Tibet's herdsmen achieved double-digit growth for five consecutive years.
The Tibet Autonomous Region government has adhered to the improvement of production and living conditions of farmers and herdsmen; and made it a priority of economic and social development. Over the past five years, the autonomous region has poured 16.5 billion yuan into "three agricultural issues" - an increase of 1.3 times more than in the previous five years. Currently, Tibet has developed its own agriculture and animal husbandry system; developed non-agricultural industries and labor exports. All these elemants have combined to form an income-wheeling mechanism; and a broader road to prosperity for farmers and herdsmen.
