The China-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city is scheduled to break ground this July and due to complete within 10 to 15 years, of which a pilot area of three square kilometers will be completed within three to five years, according to xinhuanet.
The development of the Eco-city is a strategic joint project between the two countries to improve environment and establish ecological civilization.
Covering an area of 30 square kilometers, the Eco-city is 15 kilometers away from the Tianjin Binhai New Area, 45 kilometers away from the downtown Tianjin and 150 kilometers away form Beijing.
The land to be developed as the Eco-city is a water-deficient area, with a high degree of soil salinity: one third of it being salt pan, another one third water surface and the remaining one third wasteland.
The development of the Sino-Singapore Tianjin Eco-city will mark yet another new chapter and bring the partnership and friendship to new heights, following the development of the China-Singapore Suzhou Industrial Park, a significant milestone in bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
