Hong Kong stocks plunged 544.89 points, or 2.19 percent, to finish Tuesday's morning session at 24,286.47.
The benchmark Hang Seng Index fell 275.18 points, or 1.11 percent, to open at 24,556.18 and widened its losses towards the morning closing as market sentiment turned pessimistic following Wall Street's sharply fall overnight.
