Hong Kong stocks plunged 1,026 points, or 4.21 percent, to close at 23,375.52 on Tuesday.

Turnover rose to 82.16 billion HK dollars (10.53 billion U.S. dollars) from last Friday's 58.62 billion HK dollars (7.52 billion U.S. dollars).
