Chinese shares climbed slightly on Monday as wait-and-see attitudes clouded the market which cut down trading volume massively, analysts said.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index edged up 0.76 percent, or 21.62 points to end at 2,878.26 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed at 10,054.27 points, up 22.90 points, or 0.23 percent.

Aggregated turnover on the two bourses totaled 93.50 billion yuan (13.36 billion U.S. dollars), shrinking from 107.58 billion yuan on previous trading day.
