A new BMW Regional Distribution Center (RDC) opened in Foshan for official operation on July 30, 2008. The third distribution centre in Chinese mainland represents another important step in BMW China Aftersales Strategy and respond more efficiently to the dealers and customers’ parts ordering in the South China region.

RDC Foshan takes over the parts supply to all dealers in South China from the parts warehouse in Hong Kong. The parts delivery lead-time will be further reduced by 24 hours.

The RDC is located in Nanhai District in Foshan, and covers an area of 12,000 m2 with options to expand to up to 16,000 m2 in the future. There will be about 15,000 part numbers on stock, and an estimated number of 250,000 outbound lines per year. Currently, 25 dealers are directly linked to the RDC Foshan.

With the operation of the 3 RDCs in Beijing, Shanghai and Foshan, BMW can now offer an over-night parts delivery for all dealers all over Chinese mainland for urgently required parts. Supported by an advanced leading-edge warehouse management system, very urgently required parts can be delivered automatically out of one of the three RDCs to all dealers in Mainland China over-night, if one or two of the RDC’s have no stock. The highly flexible distribution network enables BMW China to provide fastest possible parts supply all over Mainland China.

"In the past eighteen months since Jan., 2007, we have sucessfully put into operation three parts distribution centers at strategic loations in China. Along with our fast expanding service network, this well-connected part supply system will further enhance our service quality and customer satisfaction." said Dr. Christoph Stark, President & CEO, BMW Group Region China.
