China shares end 0.3 pct higher, driven by Olympics and oil large caps

Chinese shares gained 0.3 percent on Thursday, continuing the upward momentum of the previous trading day, advanced by the Olympics and oil sectors.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.3 percent, or 8.21 points to end at 2,727.58 points. The Shenzhen Component Index closed at 9,035.29 points, down 11.85 points, or 0.13 percent.

Aggregate turnover on the two bourses further shrank to 56.8 billion yuan (8.29 billion U.S. dollars) from 63.53 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
