The economic aggregate of nonpublic economy accounted for 40 percent of Tibet's economic aggregate in 2007, making nonpublic economy the biggest "taxpayers" in Tibet, according to official of the Tibet Autonomous Region.

Private enterprises in Tibet are mainly engaged in industries like real estate, medicine & health, mining developments, food & entertainment, tourism services, agricultural products processing. The nonpublic economy plays an important role in the economy, politics, and cultural life of Tibet.
