"There was a saying that batch of small and medium enterprises in Zhejiang province had closed down. This is not exactly the same as the fact." Chen Min'er, Executive Vice Governor of Zhejiang Province, said at the press conference of the State Council Information office in Beijing on October 16.
He revealed that there were several small and medium enterprises that closed down, but not in groups, and "according to the statistics we have, however, the number of enterprises is increasing since this year."
Chen said Zhejiang's private enterprises created 70% of local gross product, 60% of taxation and 76% of exportation, and they also provided more than 90% of new working positions; at the same time, 4.4 million people in Zhejiang are working all over the China, and more than 1 million people are running their business overseas.
Under present economic situation, private operated economy is basically healthy and stable. Some enterprises, however, are facing some difficulties, Chen added. These enterprises are mainly export and processing oriented. Their problems were caused both by outer impact and inner structure and quality.
