Hong Kong's benchmark Hang Seng Index narrowed its gains to 4.43 percent after the index rose sharply by 7.12 percent, or 784.49 points to 11800.33, during early morning session on Tuesday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index opened on Tuesday at 11,154.57, 138.73 points or 1.26 percent up, after the index made its fifth worst ever single-day percentage loss by 12.7 percent in the previous session.

Hong Kong market is the only gaining market in Asia Tuesday morning.

Analysts said the index may stage a modest rebound, but any recovery remains technical in nature, driven by short-covering.
