Chinese shares opened slightly higher on Wednesday after strong rebound in the U.S. market.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index opened at 1786.20 points, up 14.38 points or 0.81 percent from the previous closing.

The smaller Shenzhen Component Index opened at 5973.50 points, up 82.38 points or 1.4 percent from the previous closing.

Chinese shares rose 2.81 percent on Tuesday following a strong rebound in Hong Kong.

News of diving corporate profits hunted the A-share market, which broke the 1,700-point mark on Tuesday morning amid slump global markets.
