Chinese share prices opened 0.87 percent lower on Monday, the first trading day of November, on slow-down profits forecast of listed companies in the third quarter.

The Shanghai Composite Index opened at 1,713.76 points, down 0.87 percent, or 15.02 points from the previous closing.

The smaller Shenzhen Component Index opened at 5,794.17 points, down 0.77 percent, or 45.16 points.
