PepsiCo recently announced that it plans to invest US $1 billion in the Chinese market over the next four years. This investment is part of the company's ongoing strategy.

The investment will be used in several important programs to expand manufacturing capacity, to expand local research and development facilities and build the company's sales force to broaden product distribution. It also will fund development of new products tailored to Chinese consumers.

PepsiCo will further strengthen its efforts in China to promote environmental sustainability. "We are enormously confident in the continued prosperity of China," said PepsiCo Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Indra Nooyi. "We look forward to building an even brighter future here."
