The Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (Middle East) recently held its grand opening in Dubai — the economic and financial center of United Arab Emirates. This was the first wholly-owned subsidiary of a Chinese commercial bank in the Middle East region. On October 21, ICBC's Doha Branch was formally opened in Doha, capital of Qatar.

Chairman of the ICBC board Jiang Jianqing pointed out that the two subsidiaries would collaborate in a mutually complementary way to provide long-term and high-quality financial services to customers in China and the Middle East, while jointly promoting the efficient development of ICBC in the whole Middle East region and enhancing the bank's competitiveness in the region and the world.
