China's GDP will surpass that of Germany this year, the head of Head of National Bureau of Statistics of China said recently. Ma Jian Tang, the director-general of the National Bureau of Statistics of China, made the remarks at the 2nd Asia-Pacific Economic and Financial Forum.
According to the data from the National Bureau of Statistics of China, since the reform and opening-up of China to the outside world 30 years ago, China's economy has maintained a rapid average growth of 9.8% per year.
In 2007, China's GDP totaled nearly 25 trillion yuan, right behind that of the US, Japan and Germany.
From the 3rd quarter on, the Chinese economy has been influenced by the financial crisis. But this year the ranking of the Chinese economy among world countries is sure to surpass that of Germany. With adequate labor force and high saving rates, China is still expected to maintain a rapid economic growth in the long run.
