Taiwan share prices rose 2.55 percent on Tuesday with heavier turnover, according to media reports reaching here Tuesday from Taipei.
Encouraged by Wall Street's sharp gains overnight, the benchmark weighted index rose 105.95 points, or 2.55, to close at 4,266.49.
Turnover rose to 56.96 billion New Taiwan dollars (1.7 billion U.S. dollars) from Monday's 45.79 billion New Taiwan dollars (1.37billion U.S. dollars).
