Chinese shares opened slightly lower on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index, which covers both A and B shares, losing 0.28 percent, or 5.22 points, to 1,846.30 at the opening.
The smaller Shenzhen index was down 0.93 percent, or 62.47 points, to open at 6,641.78 points.
