In 2008, central SOEs are expected to realize total sales revenue of 11.5 trillion yuan, up 20% year-on-year, and the profits are expected to be around 700 billion yuan, down by about 30% year-on-year.
Huang Shuhe, vice chairman of the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, said this on January 5.
In 2008, central SOEs faced the rigorous challenges and harsh tests of major natural disasters including low-temperatures, freezing rain and snow and the severe earthquake in Wenchuan, in addition to the financial crisis.
Of them, natural disasters led to direct and indirect losses of 130 billion yuan, and restoration and reconstruction has required investment of 200 billion yuan.
If the impacts from the two natural disasters and policy-related losses such as those from petrochemical and electricity enterprises are excluded, total profits realized would be around 1 trillion yuan, roughly on par with 2007.
