Macao's average hotel occupancy rate dropped by 6.6 percentage points to 79.2 percent, with four-star hotels leading at 85.3 percent in November 2008, according to the figures released on Monday by the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC).
In November 2008, a total of 567,812 guests checked into local hotels and similar establishments, up by 12.4 percent year-on-year, the DSEC said. The majority of the guests came from the Chinese mainland (48.4 percent) and Hong Kong (22.4 percent).
Total number of hotel guests reached 5.9 million in the first 11 months of 2008, up by 13.6 percent over the same period of 2007,and visitor-guests staying in hotels accounted for 43.2 percent of the total number of tourists, up slightly from 42.4 percent in the corresponding period of 2007.
