Italian luxury car-maker Maserati is to recall 171 sedans sold in China since March 18 due to faulty dashboard software, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (GAQSIQ) announced Thursday.
The imported Maserati Quattroporte Series, Martha GT (GranTurismo) and Martha GT S (GranTurismo S) models produced before Feb. 24 contain defects in the software, which fail to send warning signals when the seat belts are not buckled in the driver and passenger seats, said a statement on the GAQSIQ website.
Ferrari Maserati Cars International Trading (Shanghai) Co. Ltd, the only importer of Maserati cars in China, submitted a report on the problem to the quality supervisor, said the statement.
The Shanghai-based joint venture between Poly Technologies and majority shareholder Ferrari would notify customers for safety tests and free replacement of the system.
Neither the GAQSIQ nor the car-marker would give details of any reports of accidents involving the fault before the recall announcement.
