Reporters learned at a news briefing for the first ever China Overseas Investment Fair that this year China will directly invest between 150 and 180 billion USD in foreign countries, while attracting between 80 and 100 billion USD of foreign direct investment during the same period. This may be the first time that China's direct investment overseas will exceed that of the direct investment made by foreign countries in China.
According to Fan Yongchun, executive vice-chairman and secretary-general of the China Industrial Overseas Development and Planning Association, China's foreign investment has moved from its initial stage into a period of rapid growth.
China will experience a historical transition, changing from “producer” to “capital exporter” in the world economy. Reporters learned that the first China Overseas Investment Fair, sponsored by the China Industrial Overseas Development and Planning Association, will be held in Beijing on November 3 and 4.
