The benchmark index opened at 17,395.61 and fluctuated between 17,984.02 and 17,347.89 during the session.

Turnover rose to 93.06 billion HK dollars (12.02 billion U.S. dollars) from Tuesday's 56.29 billion HK dollars (7.27 billion U.S. dollars)
