Chinese government stopped some of Google China's searching businesses and asked to clear up its lewd information Friday, according to the country's Internet watchdog.

The office for crackdown on online porn and lewd content said Friday that Chinese government summoned Google China's official in charge Thursday afternoon and announced the punishment.

Google China was ordered to suspend its overseas web pages searching services and associated words search services.

The office also asked Google China to clear up its porn and lewd information promptly.

The China Internet Illegal Information Reporting Center (CIIRC)Thursday "strongly condemned" the search engine Google's Chinese portal for providing what the agency said were links to pornography and "lewd" information that violated national regulations.
