The index of current price satisfaction of urban residents is continuing a downward trend, according to statistics released by the People's Bank of China, the central bank, on September 24.

Depositors in 50 large, medium and small cities nationwide were questioned in a survey by the central bank in mid-and late August this year.

The results show 44.6 percent of urban residents think the prices are too high to bear, with the percentage increased by 1.3 points compared with last quarter, and 51.8 percent think the current prices are acceptable, down 1.4 percent. Only 3.6 percent of urban residents surveyed are satisfied with the prices now.

As a result, the index of current price satisfaction in the third quarter of this year decreased by 0.6 percent to stand at 29.5 percent
