AL chief terms unifying Palestinian ranks as top priority |

Arab League (AL) Secretary General Amr Moussa on Saturday termed unifying Palestinian ranks as the top priority, calling for inter-Palestinian dialogue.
"Nothing should affect inter-Palestinian dialogue," Moussa said,adding that unifying Palestinian ranks should be the top priority.
Moussa noted that an Arab fact-finding commission entrusted with looking into recent events in the Palestinian territories is pursuing its mission and holding contacts with various parties.
A report will be prepared soon by the commission in accordance with a resolution by the emergency meeting of the Arab League Council, he added.
On Friday, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon expressed his concern over the deteriorating situation in the Gaza Strip in a message to Moussa, hoping cooperation with the AL would continue in a bid to alleviate the humanitarian crisis in the coastal strip,according to Alaa Roushdi, spokesman for Moussa.
In addition, a report on the humanitarian conditions in the Palestinian strip is attached to the message and the report has been referred to the fact-finding commission.
The Arab League Council's foreign minister emergency meeting held in mid-June established the Arab fact-finding commission to investigate the recent events in the Palestinian territories.
The Palestinian national unity government formed on the basis of the power-sharing Mecca agreement between Hamas and Fatah was sacked by a presidential decree on June 14 in the wake of Hamas' violent takeover of the Gaza Strip.
Despite Hamas rejection, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas swore in an emergency government in the West Bank and has been rejecting talks with Hamas since then.
