The French National Assembly passed Tuesday a vote of confidence in the government of Prime Minister Francois Fillon, moments after he delivered a speech on general policies, which also touched on the commitment of government responsibility.
Law makers belonging to the ruling Union for a popular Movement (UMP) and those of the New center, which represents the absolute majority in the newly-elected parliament, expressed their support to the prime minsiter.
Socialists, green party and communists law makers voted against the motion, while the democratic movement (Modem) led by Francois Bayrou, abstained from voting.
