Only 36 percent of Poles agreed to join the euro zone while 47 percent were opposed to the plan of adopting the euro to replace their currency zloty, according to an opinion poll released on Tuesday.
The poll said opponents worried that the euro zone entry would lead to a price increase in their country, while supporters said as a member state of the European Union (EU), Poland should join the EU's common currency system.
The Polish government plans to meet euro entry requirements in 2009 but so far has not set a date.
Polish Prime Minister Jaroslaw Kaczynski said last month that euro adoption could be risky for Poland's economy in the next few years.
