Emirates Airline to add 14 flights weekly to India |

The Dubai-based Emirates Airline will add 14 flights a week to India in a bid to carry out a major expansion plan, local newspaper Gulf News reported on Wednesday.
Emirates Airline will boost its services to India from the current 71 to 85 passenger flights a week to eight cities, including Mumbai, Chennai and Kochi, in advance of an expected free trade agreement between the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and India, according to the report.
The additional flights will be operated with wide-bodied Airbus A330-200 and Boeing 777 aircraft.
"India is expanding its links with the GCC and forging ahead with joint, multi-billion-dollar projects in tourism, commerce and infrastructure," Nabeel Sultan, the airline's senior vice- president of commercial operations was quoted as saying.
"Customer demand for our services has been steadily building up and we are pleased to offer greater capacity through frequency increases and aircraft upgrades," he added.
Established in 1985 by the Dubai government, Emirates Airline is the second largest and most profitable Arab carrier.
It has a fleet of 105 aircraft flying to more than 90 cities in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Oceania and North America.
Besides the United Arab Emirates, the GCC also comprises Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
