A soldier and a policeman were killed in bomb and gunfire attacks in northern Iraqi cities on Wednesday, local police sources said. A roadside bomb went off near an Iraqi army patrol near the town of Tuz-Khurmato, some 90 km east of Tikrit, killing a soldier and wounding three others, a source from Salahudin province told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. The blast also badly damaged an army Humvee, he said. In a separate incident, a policeman was killed and three others were injured when unidentified gunmen opened fire on their patrol in northern Kirkuk, some 250 km north of Baghdad, a city police source said. Insurgents frequently attack security members in Iraq, accusing them of collaborating with U.S. occupation.
