Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen here on Wednesday asked the kingdom's military generals and other government officials to be fully prepared in case of any disaster and accident. "Those who don't have a map in hand while conducting rescue operation will be fired from their positions," he said at a seminar for natural disaster and bird flu management. "I had the experiences. While we led the rescue operation of the plane crash last Monday in Kampot province, I asked them about the maps, but they said that they didn't have the maps. I wanted to see where we were, but those military generals said they didn't have a map," he told over 600 top government officials and foreign diplomats. We have to strengthen our capacity of rescue operation and data collection and be fully prepared before any accident occurs, he said. "We have to prepare ourselves for rescue operation, because we have many planes flying across our country's air space and many tourist ships shuttling in our waters. We must face floods from the Mekong River, too," he said. Full preparedness can avoid wasting time and have more survivors, he added. Monday's accident killed all the 22 people aboard, making the worse air crash in Cambodia in the past decade.
