At least five people were killed and 12 others wounded on Wednesday in a car bomb blast in a town in Salahudin province, north of Baghdad, a provincial police source said.
"A car bomb parking outside the Barakah Restaurant, outside the town of Baiji, some 200 km north of Baghdad, detonated during the launch time," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity. The blast killed five people, including a policeman, and wounded 12 civilians, the source added. The powerful blast damaged the front part of the restaurant and set several nearby civilian cars on fire, the source added. In a separate attack earlier in the day in the same province, a roadside bomb went off near an Iraqi army patrol near the town of Tuz-Khurmato, some 90 km east of Tikrit, killing a soldier and wounding three others. Insurgents frequently attack security members in Iraq, accusing them of collaboration with the U.S. occupation forces.
