Okello Oryem, Rugunda''s deputy in Juba talks, said the government will use a similar justice system that was used by the British government to address the Irish Republican Army (IRA) and by the Rwandan government to address the 1994 genocide.

The two officials however stressed that whereas the LRA fighters will be tried under the alternative justice system, Ugandan troops will be tried under the formal justice system which includes death penalty.

The government and the rebel group since July last year have been engaged in peace negotiations mediated by the government of southern Sudan.
