Nepali gov't unveils policies in interim parliament |

The Nepali government on Wednesday presented its programs and policies for the next fiscal year in a meeting of the interim parliament.
This is the first time the Nepali government presented its plans for the next fiscal year after the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist) (CPN-M) joined the interim parliament and the government. On behalf of Prime Minister Girja Prasad Koirala, Minister for Peace and Reconstruction Ram Chandra Poudel presented the programs and policies of the government in the interim parliament Wednesday afternoon. The government's plan and policy prioritized the constituent assembly (CA) election due to he held on November 22 and proclaimed that it will usher in a "new age" for Nepal through economic and social transformations after the CA elections are done. The government also expressed commitment towards the programs of reconstruction. The government will increase the salary of the civil servants and create a conducive atmosphere for CA polls. Other aspects mentioned in the document are reconstruction of the infrastructure which had been destroyed in the insurgency and rehabilitation of the displaced people. A committee of all party ministers finalized the paper Tuesday.
