Gunmen stormed a thoroughfare in eastern Baghdad on Wednesday, killing two people and kidnapped five others, an Interior Ministry source said.
"Gunmen in three vehicles stormed shops in a thoroughfare in the Mashtal neighborhood, killing two shop owners and shoppers and snatched five more," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.
U.S. and Iraqi government blame militias and death squads for sectarian killing and kidnapping of thousands of Iraqis in the circle of violence that engulfed the country since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003.
