An Iraqi civilian was killed and three policemen were wounded when a roadside bomb struck a police patrol in the city of Kirkuk, 250 km north of Baghdad, on Thursday, a local police source said.

"A roadside bomb detonated in the morning near a police patrol in the Hajaj district in central Kirkuk," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

The blast badly damaged a police vehicle, killing a civilian and seriously injuring three policemen, who were transported to the city general hospital for treatment, the source said.

Insurgents frequently attack Iraqi police and army forces, accusing them of collaborating with the U.S. occupation.
