Head of the Lal Masjid mosque, Maulana Abdul Aziz, who was arrested Wednesday, has been produced in an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in the eastern Pakistani city of Rawalpindi, a TV channel reported. Aziz was shown Thursday on the state-run television in an interview while wearing the same "Burqa" in which he came out of the mosque in the Pakistani capital with a group of Jamia Hafsa female students and tried to escape last night. The police produced Maulana Abdul Aziz in the court of Judge Sakhi Muhamamd Kahut to seek his physical custody for questioning. Aziz is facing seven cases including charges of terrorism, possessing illegal arms and kidnapping. He has been on the wanted list of the police in several cases for three years and has been inside the mosque since then. In the interview with the state-run PTV, Aziz admitted that he wanted to escape the mosque to avoid his arrest.
