Middle East quartet envoys to meet in London July 10 |

A meeting of special envoys from the quartet of international mediators on the Middle East settlement will be held in London on July 10, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Mikhail Kamynin said on Thursday.
"Russia will be represented by Russian foreign minister's special envoy for the Middle East settlement, Ambassador at Large Sergei Yakovlev," Kamynin was quoted by the Itar-Tass news agency as saying.
Envoys would "discuss a wide range of issues, including situation in the region and concretize a possible date for a ministerial meeting," Yakovlev said.
It would also focus on "the situation in Palestine, situation in Gaza and supplies of humanitarian aid... All issues are being coordinated," he added.
Meanwhile, EU Special Representative for the Middle East Marc Otte said the Quartet at the ministerial level could get together on July 16. The European diplomat said no final decision on the date has been reached as of yet, but active consultations on the issue are in progress. The meeting will be held in one of the countries of the region, he said.
Earlier, the Quartet session was scheduled for June 26 to 27 in Cairo. However, it was postponed because of an aggravation of the situation in Palestine. Instead, a working meeting of the Quartet was held in Jerusalem on June 26.
The Middle East Quartet (Russia, the European Union, the United States and the United Nations) on June 27 named Tony Blair as their representative to promote peace in the region shortly after he stepped down as British prime minister.
