The Pakistani government announced on Friday morning that it will relax the curfew around the Lal Masjid for three hours, the state-run Associated Press of Pakistan reported. According to a press release of the Interior Ministry, the relaxation of curfew will last from 12:30 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., providing an opportunity for residents in the area to give prayers and do some shopping. It is the second time that the government has announced a break of curfew since it was first issued on Wednesday morning. A two-hour break in the curfew was imposed on the area near the besieged Lal Masjid on Thursday. Confined to their residences for about 36 hours, people rushed out to replenish their food stocks and some chose to leave for safer places, according to a Pakistani newspaper DAWN. The government decided to impose curfew near the Lal Masjid on Wednesday morning after clashes between religious students and security forces in the capital on Tuesday. Source: Xinhua
