Kenyan police vowed Friday to crack down on the rising insecurity in the country, saying the fight against crime is yielding impressive results.

Police Commissioner Maj. Gen. Mohammed Hussein Ali said that security agencies would bring to end politically-linked criminal gangs blamed for a string of murders and beheadings across the country.

"We are not going to tolerate such criminal gangs in this country. We have devised measures of dealing with them and it is just a matter of time before their activities become history," Ali told journalists in Nairobi.

The police boss was speaking before opening a meeting of the country''s top security chiefs which was to strategize on new ways of fighting crimes in the country.

Ali said security agents in the country are on high alert adding that police will not relent on the war against criminals.

He said his officers had devised sustainable measures of dealing with the outlawed Mungiki sect and other related organized criminal gangs.
