Romania got the necessary approvals of the Israeli military authorities to take a group of about 80 Romanians out of the Gaza Strip, reported the Romania Actualitati radio station on Friday citing official sources. There are women with Romanian citizenship, married to Palestinians, and many children, some of them being sucklings, according to the radio. The transfer from Gaza would take place next week. Most of these Romanian citizens, requesting to evacuate the Gaza Strip and come back to their country of origin, have no valid Romanian documents and birth certificates. Some of the Romanian women are married to Palestinians in keeping with the Islamic law and have no adequate documents. The Romanian authorities ensure protection and humanitarian support for the Romanian citizens' return, but cannot ensure a possible return to Gaza. The Romanian Foreign Ministry (MAE) confirmed on Thursday another 70 Romanians wanted to leave the Gaza Strip and come back to Romania and made it clear that "Romanian citizens from the southern part of the Gaza Strip made requests for support." The ministry said that the requests for repatriation made by the citizens in the Gaza Strip went represented priority of the MAE and the Romania's Embassy in Tel Aviv is keeping in touch with the Israeli authorities for scheduling a possible operation for the evacuation and return to Romania.
