An unidentified gang detonated half a dozen improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in a major business town in southern Nepal on Sunday, reported THT website.

Four persons on two motorbikes detonated three IEDs near a tractor showroom in Birgunj, some 90 km south of Kathmandu Sunday morning. The building of the showroom belongs to former vice-chairperson of Birgunj Chambers of Commerce and Industries Sushil Mittal. They also detonated a bomb at Saphu General Trading and two bombs at Munna Auto Spares.

The gang also threw a bomb on the playground of Gautam School, Police Inspector at the Ward Police Office Gautam Mishra said.

The bomb disposal squad of the Nepali army disposed of the bomb on the school ground Sunday afternoon.

Police are searching for the gang members in Birgunj and its adjoining areas. However, no one has been arrested yet, the District Police Office said. And local police have been conducting checks by setting up barricades in different parts of the town.
