Kidnappers released the three-year-old British girl on Sunday in Nigeria's southeastern Rivers State capital of Port Harcourt, according to reports reaching here at midnight.
Margaret Hill, daughter of a British oil worker abducted by unidentified gunmen on Thursday on her way to school, was released unharmed and is now with the state security service in Port Harcourt, said Emma Okah, the state spokesman in the oil city.
"She is with the director for state security right now," the spokesman was quoted by news agencies as saying, without giving further details.
A British foreign ministry spokesman also confirmed the release, but no more details were immediately available from the local authorities or British side.
The oil-rich Rivers State is within the area of Nigeria's unrestful Niger River Delta, in which more than 200 foreigners have been taken hostage since the beginning of 2006.
