Two members of the Basque armed separatist ETA group were captured on Monday near Paris and the police also found equipment for forging fake documents in their van, local media reported on Sunday.

The police found all sorts of equipment and special computer programs to forge official documents in the van the two arrestees were in.

They seized at least 16 fake documents the two arrestees had for their own use. Some of the documents were targeting European countries like France, Italy and Britain.

Spanish anti-terrorist officials said they believed the move had knocked out the main forging cell of the Basque group, which has been campaigning for an independent Basque state for over 40 years and has killed hundreds of people.

The ETA was listed as a terrorist group by the United States and the European Union.
