A special Israeli army force killed an Islamic Jihad (Holy War) militant early Monday in the village of Qabatiya near the northern West Bank town of Jenin and detained two others, witnesses in the village said. Israeli soldiers of a special underground unit, were disguising as Palestinian workers, and were hiding into a local van near the entrance to the village, according to the witnesses. They added that when another van carrying two Islamic Jihad militants arrived at the entrance of the village, the soldiers ambushed the car by gunfire, killing one militant and detaining the other and the driver. "The Israeli soldiers prevented Palestinian ambulances from reaching the area," one eyewitness said, adding that the Israeli soldiers held the body of Mahmoud Nazzal, 26, for one hour before they handed it to a Palestinian ambulance and left the area. Islamic Jihad sources said that Nazzal is the commander of its armed wing Saraya al-Quds in northern West Bank, adding that he survived three attempts of assassination over the last two years. "The assassination of Nazzal would never break up our determination to continue our resistance against the occupation. Our arms should be united in order to confront this occupation," said the group in a leaflet.
