Six Iraqis were killed and 19 others wounded in separate bomb attacks in Baghdad on Monday, an Interior Ministry source said.

"A suicide bomber drove an explosive-laden car into an Iraqi army checkpoint in Baghdad's southern district of Doura and detonated around midday, killing a soldier and wounding three others," the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

The blast also damaged several nearby civilian cars queuing to cross the checkpoint, the source added.

In central Baghdad, a roadside bomb detonated in a thoroughfare in Karradah neighborhood, killing a civilian and wounding four others, the source said.

Meanwhile, the death toll rose to four from two roadside bomb blasts in a major parking lot in central Baghdad, the source said, adding that 12 others were injured in the explosions.

The source earlier reported that two roadside bombs went off in quick succession in the morning in the Nadhah parking lot in central Baghdad on the east side of Tigris River, killing one civilian and wounding four others.

Violence continued in Baghdad despite a security plan in the capital staged by the U.S. and Iraqi troops since February 14 with an aim of putting rampant violence under control.
