Three men were found guilty on Monday over a failed plot to bomb London's transport network on July 21, 2005.
Muktar Said Ibrahim, 29, Yassin Omar, 26, and Ramzi Mohammed, 25, were all convicted of conspiracy to murder by a jury at Woolwich Crown Court in southeast London. The suspects had claimed the bombs were fakes, and the attacks had been intended as a protest against the war in Iraq. The verdicts of three other defendants, who all deny charges against them, are still being considered by the jury of nine women and three men. The failed plot to set off bombs in London's transport network took place on July 21, 2005, just two weeks after suicide bombings which killed 52 commuters in the capital. The verdicts came two days after the second anniversary of the July 7 suicide bombing in London, and in the wake of the recently raised state of terror alert in Britain.
